The Athens-based Texas Xtreme semi pro football team traveled to Shreveport, La., last Saturday to take on the host Port City Jaguars. The Xtreme won by a score of 22-12 in a game which coaches Larry Anding and Gary Craig described as an ugly win.

The Xtreme will host the North Texas Falcons Saturday at Bruce Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $3 for students and children under six are admitted free. All students will be admitted for $2 with a valid school ID.

Despite missing several starters and 20 players overall, the Xtreme never trailed throughout the game. Anding and Craig stated the Jaguars have a very good football teams and overall have the largest players their team has ever competed against.

Anding was somewhat displeased as the offense was unsuccessful on several scoring opportunities, as well as committing costly penalties. The offense was flagged eight times for 75 yards in penalties. Thompson led all rushers with 66 yards on 12 carries and totaled 48 yards on two pass receptions. Marvin Hopkins also added one touchdown reception on a 25-yard pass from Morgan. Wet field conditions were a factor, as kicker Michael Clay was 1-of-3 extra point attempts and he added one field goal.
