KEMP — The Van Vandals showed no mercy to the Kemp Yellowjackets Friday night, taking a 35-7 win.

Kemp’s record now stands at 0-4, while Van’s improved to 3-1.

Kemp will next face Hillsboro on Oct. 6.

The ’Jackets managed to get seven first downs during the game. They were penalized five times for 25 yards.

’Jackets quarterback Matt Carr attempted 17 passes, completing 10. He was injured in the fourth quarter and was replaced with Michael Scruggs.

The Vandals had a total of five penalties for 50 yards. They managed eight first downs during the game. Quarterback Blake Pennington made a total of five passes, four of which were completed.

During the first quarter, Van scored a touchdown when Jarvis Crawford ran the ball into the end zone. The PAT failed. When the Vandals got possession of the ball, Jeremi Calhoun ran in a 76 yard hand off for the touchdown.

The Vandals scored again in the second quarter, this time by Matthew Goode. Kemp tried to fire back, with Carr hitting James Trim on a 40-yard completion, but the drive resulted in no points.

The Yellowjackets hit the end zone in the third quarter on a touchdown catch by Brett Kennedy. Nick Sallings kicked the extra point.

Van would later intercept a pass by Carr and run it in for the Vandals’ third touchdown.

During the fourth quarter, Jarvis Crawford scored the Vandals’ fourth and fifth touchdowns.
