Results were mixed for the Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals and Cardinals on the road Wednesday night.
The third-ranked Lady Cardinals rolled to an 83-50 win against San Jacinto in Houston.
In nearby Pasadena, the fourth-ranked Cardinals lost 89-88 on a three-pointer at the buzzer.
Jazmine Spears led the Lady Cardinals with 26 points. Kami Mickens had 22.
The Lady Cardinals improved to 8-1 on the year and 2-0 in Region XIV Conference.
The Lady Cardinals led 37-22 at the half.
Next up is Jacksonville at home Saturday. Game time is 4 p.m.
The Cardinals, who trailed by as many at 18 late in the first half, rallied in the second half to take the lead late in the game.
Clarence Williams topped the scoring for the Cardinals with 17. Dedrick Basile had 15, Jhaustin Thomas 11 and Aldonis Foote 10.
The Cardinals lost four players to fouls.
The loss saw the Cardinals slip to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in conference.
The Cardinals are scheduled to be at home Saturday against Jacksonville. Game time is 6 p.m.

ACP wins opener over King’s Academy
The Athens Christian Prep Storm won 45-44 over King’s Academy Tuesday night.
Issac Ridgle led the way with 20 points, 14 rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks for the Storm.
Micah Santelli added 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and three steals, Pascil Wilson had six points, eight rebounds and two steals and Zay Ridgle had four points, 10 assists and one steal.
Keaton Wieser had four points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Cross Roads beats Overton, 95-47
The Cross Roads Bobcats improved to 5-2 on the year with a 95-47 win over Overton Tuesday night.
CRHS jumped out to a 31-7 lead after the first quarter and a 48-23 lead at the intermission.
Hunter Davis led the way for the Bobcats with 37 points, Randy Flowers added 17 points and Aaron Arden had 11 points.
Clayton Flowers added nine points, Jeffery Anderson had five points, Blake McCracken and Dylan Jenkins had four points each. Taylor McKenzie and Tanner Simmons scored two points each.
In the junior varsity game, Overton won 51-38.
Cross Roads played Cushing in the opening round of the Elkhart tournament Thursday night.
LaPoynor Flyers beat Brook Hill, 53-41
The LaPoynor Flyers improved to 4-2 on the year with a 53-41 win over Bullard Brook Hill Tuesday night.
LaPoynor led 31-13 at the intermission.
Jacorey Williams finished with a game-high 16 points for the Flyers, Xavier Oliver added 15 points, Colton Clair had nine points and Lane McClelland and James Jackson had six points each.
