WHITE OAK — Senior Odette Rivero was the top finisher for the Athens High School powerlifting team Saturday in the East Texas Championships at White Oak High School.

Rivero, the defending Class 3A state champion in the 181 Division, had a 790-pound total for a second-place showing.

Kalli Porter was fourth for the AHS girls in the 132 Division with a 655-pound total.

Delia Hernandez had a fifth-place performance for the Lady Hornets in the 148 Division. She had a 650-pound total.

Rivero and Porter have qualified for regional competition, which will be held Saturday at Forney High School.

For the AHS boys, Cody Walker was sixth in the 198 Division with a 1,130-pound total.

James Marshall and Nick Richardson had seventh-place performances. Marshall had a 1,300-pound total in the 220 Division, including a personal best 570 in the dead lift. Richardson had a 1,270-pound total in the 275 Division.

Alan Pate recorded a personal best 920-pound total. Austin Finch also had a personal best 900-pound total.
