WEATHERFORD — The Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals returned from the holiday break in style Thursday night with an 87-65 non-conference win over Weatherford College.

The win was the sixth straight for eighth-year coach Michael Landers’ squad, which improved to 10-4.

TVCC is scheduled to be in action Saturday at Kilgore in a Region XIV Conference contest. Game time is 5:30 p.m. The Lady Cards are 2-1 in league play.

Late-arriving officials caused a one-hour delay in the game. But that didn’t prevent the Lady Cards from racing out to a 46-26 halftime lead.

Ashley Walker pumped in 25 points and Darika Hill had 22 to lead the Lady Cardinals.

DeShawna Banks also scored in double figures with 15 points and Brianna Goss finished with eight.

The Lady Cards were 12-of-18 from the free throw line and hit 11 three-pointers.

“It was a good win for us and a nice way to return after the holidays,” Landers said.

The win avenged a 78-70 loss to Weatherford in November.
