The 2014 football schedule is out for the Trinity Valley Cardinals with two conference games to start the season.

With a 10-2 overall record and a Heart of Texas bowl win last year, the Cardinals have a chance to open the season in the top 5 in the nation.

TVCC opens the season on Aug. 30 as the Tyler Junior College Apaches come to Bruce Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

TVCC is then scheduled to make their first road appearance of the season on Sept. 6 at Navarro College, before having a two-game homestand at Bruce Field.

The Cardinals will then have three of their next four games as non-conference games.

The homestand will include games with the Cisco Junior College Wranglers and the Kilgore College Rangers — which is Family Day.

TVCC will head out on the road on Sept. 27 against the Southeast Prep Spartans — who TVCC beat, 86-7, in last year’s regular season finale.

Oct. 4 will be the Battle in the Valley game as College of Dupage comes to Bruce Field for a 3 p.m. kickoff. The past two seasons, the game featured Iowa Western in the opening game of the season.

Following a trip to Brenham on Oct. 11 to face the Blinn Buccaneers, TVCC will play their final home game on Oct. 18 in the Homecoming/Hall of Fame game against Arkansas Baptist.

They will then wrap up the regular season in Miami, Okla. against Northeast Oklahoma A&M with a 3 p.m. kickoff.
