After enjoying their first-round bye, the LaPoynor Flyers showed no signs of rust as they began their playoff journey on Thursday night at Abbott High School and took care of business against the Walnut Springs Hornets, 69-27.

The Flyers began the game with the 14-6 lead after the first quarter.

They continued the fast start in the second quarter with a 16-3 run and led 30-9 at halftime.

LaPoynor's 20-5 stretch in the third quarter built the commanding lead to 50-16.

The fourth quarter was a bit contested as the Flyers used the 19-13 edge to close out the Hornets for the 69-27 rout.

The Flyers improve to 22-4 and will face the winner of the Calvert Trojans and the Oakwood Panthers on a day to be determined.
