This isn’t the kind of start the Bulldogs or Head Coach Doug Wendel were hoping for.
The Eustace Bulldogs fell to 0-3 on the young season with a 40-21 loss to the Edgewood Bulldogs Friday night at The Boneyard.
Edgewood (1-2) ran out to a 28-7 halftime lead on the strength of three Ethan Rutter touchdown passes. Rutter finished 24 of 37 for 340 yards and five touchdowns.
Eustace’s only score of the first half came on a 21-yard run from senior fullback Jacob Petillo, who finished the game with 21 carries for 156 yards.
Jacob McCarter and Blake Ward also had rushing touchdowns for Eustace.
Eustace will try to break into the win column next week when it travels to Quitman for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
The Bulldogs then face Ferris on the road the following week before getting a week off prior to the start of District 6-2A Division I play.
