Kenneth Woods, Morgyn Fulgham and Emma McCoy received the Bear and Bearette Award Monday at Rock Hill Baptist Church.

The awards were part of the 2017-18 Sports Banquet under the direction of athletic director Greg Pearson.

Athletes were presented with team awards in 12 sports by their head coaches.

The football coaches recognized three athletes as Kevon Thompson won the Offensive Player of the Year.

Micah Schultz was the best defensive player. The Relentless award was given to Woods.

In volleyball, three awards were handed out to Maci Felts as the Most Valuable Player, McCoy as the Offensive Player of the Year and Chelsea Foster as the Defensive Player of the Year.

In cross country, the Most Valuable Player awards were given to Nathan Morris and Laura Escamilla.

In girls basketball, coach Fred Griffin presented seven awards as the Co-Most Valuable Players were McKenzie Smith and Fulgham.

The Co-Defensive Player of the Year are Aleiah Williams and Fulgham, the assist leader was Williams, leading rebounder was Fulgham, best free throw percentage went to Fulgham and Smith and Katelyn England was the Most Improved.

The Take Charge award went to Fulgham.

In boys basketball, coach Brent Smith handed out three awards as Woods was named the MVP.

Thompson was given the Offensive Player of the Year and Jared Gailey was named Defensive Player of the Year.

In powerlifting, the Most Outstanding Lifters are Bobby Posey and Kristen Phillips.

In golf, the MVP award went to Gailey and Sarah McBride. In tennis, Smith presented Jeremiah Arredondo and Isabelle West with the MVP awards.

In girls track, Griffin presented three awards as Escamilla was named the Most Valuable Player.

The best field events went to Bayli Hooker and Cydney Dodds, while the running events went to Alexa Soong.

In boys track, Thompson was named the Most Valuable Player. The running events Most Valuable Player was given to Luis Suarez, and the field events went to Saul Williams.

In softball, the Most Valuable Player is Fulgham, the Offensive Player is Sarah McBride and the Defensive Player is Christen Downey.

In baseball, the Most Valuable Player is Nick Wood, the Offensive Player is Gage Wehrmann and the Defensive Player is Jonathan Surlet.

The Sports Medicine Student of the Year is Hayden Followell and Hanna Hawkins.
