The Malakoff Tigers are bi-district champions after taking care of the Whitney Wildcats in Game 2 this weekend in Whitney.

The Tigers’ offense broke through in the third inning to finish off the Wildcats and advance to the area round with an 18-3 rout in five innings.

Malakoff led 7-0 in the top of the first inning as Erik Waldo scored Darion Peace with an RBI single, Cully McCoy's two-run RBI single scored Riggin Smith and Cole Gaddis, Jake Little drew a bases-loaded walk to score Waldo, McCoy scored on a wild pitch, Peace's RBI single brought home Wes Hustead and Little scored on a passed ball.

Whitney trailed 7-1 in the bottom of the first on a sac fly.

It was 8-1 Tigers as Gaddis scored on a passed ball in the top of the second.

Malakoff clamped down in the top of the third with ten runs for the big 18-1 lead. The first seven runs came on Waldo and McCoy being plunked by bases-loaded pitches, four walks and an error at first base.

Brandon Nations capped off the inning with a three-run RBI double that scored Cainon Oxford, Little and Peace.

The Wildcats eventually scored two more runs and Malakoff completed the sweep with the 18-3 victory.

Nations started and earned the win  with three innings of two runs and three hits plus four strikeouts and five walks. Waldo and McCoy combined for two relief innings, allowing one run on two hits.

The Tigers improve to 23-8 and take on the Franklin Lions in the area round.
