The Athens Lady Hornets lost a tough contest to Ferris, 65-25, Tuesday night in district action at AHS gymnasium.
With the loss, the Lady Hornets are now 2-22 overall and 0-6 in District 13-4A play.
They will be on the road Friday night at Crandall. The game is set to tip off at 6:15 p.m.
Athens will wrap up the season Tuesday, Feb. 10 with Senior Night against the Mabank Lady Panthers. Tip off for the game is set for 6:15 p.m. at AHS gymnasium.
The Lady Hornets had a hard time finding any offense in the first half as Ferris held a 35-8 lead at the intermission.
AHS would score the opening basket of the game as Seairra Walker found Bryla Barker for the 2-0 lead.
Barker would lead the Lady Hornets in scoring with 19 points. This came off of a 35-point night in a loss Friday to the Kaufman Lady Lions.
Athens was 11-of-19 from the free throw line in the game led by Barker. She was 11-of-15 from the charity stripe in the game.
AHS would cut the deficit to 24-6 with 6:02 remaining in the second quarter as Walker scored on a jumper from Kelcee Johnson.
AHS would score the final basket of the first half with 20 seconds remaining. Johnson hit the jumper from 15-feet for the 35-8 deficit at the half.
The Lady Hornets had a hard time defending the 3-point shot of Baylee Bakely as she scored a game-high 21 points with seven 3-pointers for Ferris.
Walker, Johnson and Tiffany Boyce finished with two points each for the Lady Hornets.
With the loss, the Lady Hornets were eliminated from postseason play.
