Patrick ‘Pat’ Benigno

Patrick “Pat” Benigno, 69, of Palestine passed away Dec. 11, 2007, at 10:22 p.m. in the Hospice Homeplace — Tyler. He will be cremated.

No services will be held at this time; a memorial will be held at a later date.

He was born in Manhattan, N.Y., to Gaetano and Eleanor Benigno Nov. 19, 1938. He lived in New York for 25 to 30 years before moving to Corsicana. He previously lived in Athens 25 years. He and his wife, Carol, moved to Palestine 12 years ago.

He married his wife, Carol (Posey), May 21, 1988, in Athens at the Church on the Rock by the Rev. Gary Marrone. He was employed at the Wal-Mart warehouse in Tucker six years and Athens Wal-Mart three years before retiring in 2005.

Mr. Benigno served in the Army. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing and listening to oldies but goodies music.

Survivors include his children, Annette Benigno of Brooklyn, N.Y., Rose Ann Benigno Bell of Birmingham, Ala., and Harold Benigno of Wichita Falls; step-son, Joshua Nix of Athens; son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Sandy Benigno of Wichita Falls; four grandsons, Louie Perez, Michael Perez and Lenny Perez of Brooklyn, N.Y., Britney Benigno and Riana Benigno of Wichita Falls and Amanda and Brian Bell of Denver, Colo.; great-grandson, Jaden Michael Perez of Brooklyn, N.Y.; sister, Eleanor Benigno Golati of Staten Island, N.Y.; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Grace Posey of Athens; sister-in-law, Judith Posey; brother-in-law, Elum Posey Jr.; and lots of nieces and nephews;

Pat was diagnosed with stage four cancer in February 2005.

A special “thank you” to his hospice nurses, Mary and Stephanie of Palestine. Thank you for your kindness and care during my husband’s sickness. May all that knew and loved him remember Pat for his sense of humor and jokes. He always had a smile and joke for anyone who came his way.

Donna J. Hannon

Donna J. Hannon, age 78, of Champlin, Minn., passed away on Dec. 13, 2007.

She was preceded in death by husband, John G. Hannon; daughter, Janet Jean; son-in-law, Barry DeLude.

She will be deeply missed by children Nancy (Thomas) Zimpfer, Gregory (Jenee’), Donald (Lisa), Linda DeLude, Matthew (Jennifer); grandchildren, Christopher, Douglas, Lucas, Danielle, Jacob, Mark, Benjamin, Samuel, Sarah; sister, Janeth (Jack) Sneed of Trinidad; sister-in-law, Katherine Hannon, Patricia (Richard) Reese; brother-in-law, Raymond (Sheila) Hannon; nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.

Mrs. Hannon volunteered at Mabank Elementary and the Malakoff Library. She and her husband were snowbirds who traveled to Texas from Minneapolis, Minn., each winter.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at St. Vincent de Paul (9100 93rd Ave. N. Brooklyn Park, 763-425-2210).

Private interment was held at Ft. Snelling.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Donna Hannon Memorial Fund.

Edward Arbron Hoops

Funeral arrangements for Edward Arbron Hoops, 85, of Eustace are pending with the Cooper Funeral Home of Athens.

He died Tuesday evening in Eustace.

William A. Lollis

Services for William A. Lollis, 76, are pending with Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.

Mr. Lollis died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007.
