Sheena McCloud (center) watches with her sons as the Army Honor Guard removes the body of her husband Pvt. Calvary Scout Christopher Michael McCloud from the funeral coach at Cooper Funeral Home Thursday.

For Henderson Countians wishing to pay respects to Pvt. Calvary Scout Christopher Michael McCloud there will be two opportunities on Saturday.

His body is scheduled to lie in state at the First Baptist Church of Athens from 1-2 p.m. prior to the funeral services at 2 p.m. The procession afterwards will travel from the church on Carroll Street, left on Highway 175 to the square. It will then travel once around the square to East Tyler St., allowing one final opportunity for county residents to pay tribute. Graveside services will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery.

“We just want to give the community the opportunity to say goodbye to a brave soldier,” said Pete Cooper of Cooper Funeral Home.

McCloud, 24 and a resident of Cross Roads, was killed in the line of duty last Friday in Iraq.
