Keep Athens Beautiful is ready for its annual Christmas Decorating Contest.
Light up Athens in the spirit of the holiday season by decorating your businesses and homes.
The theme of the Athens Parade is 'Christmas Around the Square,’ catch the magic and make Athens shine for the holidays.
The Keep Athens Beautiful board members will judge displays on the evening of Monday, Dec. 8.
There will be awards for residential, children's choice and the best decorated business.

Let it snow, let is snow, let it snow. The Mabank Chapter of the Cedar Creek area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Mabank will once again present an Ol' Fashion Christmas on Market St., in Mabank.
This annual holiday event will be held on Friday, Dec. 5 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Get your free photo with Santa. Visit the model train display at Mabank City Hall. Visit the Tri-County Library for Christmas Story telling. There will be hay rides, train rides, Christmas music and much more.
Celebrate 'Christmas in Goshen.' This is a must for the Christmas season.
Drive through Christmas Light Display at Purtis Creek State Park presented by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Friends of Purtis Creek, Inc.
The lighted event will take place on Friday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 6 from 5:30-9:30 pm.
Cost is $5 a car load to tour the park. Santa Claus and Smokey the Bear will be on the site for picture taking opportunities.
Free cookies, hot chocolate and coffee at the Purtis Creek State Park Picnic Pavilion.
In addition to pictures with Santa and Smokey the Bear there will be face painting and a bake sale. An old fashion cake walk where everyone is a winning will take place at 8 pm each evening.
All funds received at the Purtis Creek pavilion area are to benefit continued programs, events and developments at Purtis Creek State Park.
The park is located at 14225 FM 316, Eustace.
Gun Barrel City will be preparing for its annual parade 'Christmas Through the Decades.' The GBC parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6 staring at 6 p.m.
Entry deadline for the Gun Barrel City parade is Wednesday, Dec. 3.
All floats and entries will be judged. Winners will be selected in five categories and receive cash prizes.
Grand prize will receive $125; second place $100; third place $75; best theme $75 and best lighting $75.
The entry fee for “Christmas Through the Decades” will be one package of baby diapers. The diapers will be donated to the Gabriel Project at St. Jude Children's Hospital.
The parade route will start at the Gun Barrel City Park, continue down State Hwy. 334 to the Gun Barrel City Village Shopping Center (where the Bealls store is located), turn around in the parking lot and return down State Hwy. 334 back to the Gun Barrel City Park.
A fireworks show will start 30 minutes after the parade is complete at the Gun Barrel City Park.

The City of Eustace is hosting a very special night at the Eustace Town Square on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 6 pm to 8pm.
In past years there has been an estimated 2000 people enjoy “Christmas on the Square.”
The turn-of-the-century square will be decorated with lights, garland and ribbon to take you back in time.
The Christmas sprits will be abundance will all the events free to the public.
Community, school choirs and bands will perform. There will be a Christmas tree lighting by the oldest citizen. Pictures with Santa, along with free carriage rides. Enjoy all kinds of holiday drinks and goodies spread across the square.
