Longtime prosecutor Jenny Palmer announces her intent to file for Henderson County District Attorney in the March 2020 Republican primary.  Jenny Palmer released the following statement:

“I am running for District Attorney of Henderson County because I believe that Henderson County needs a District Attorney who is both a strong leader and an effective prosecutor that will work with all law enforcement in ensuring justice for all victims. I believe that while justice starts with law enforcement at the scene of the crime, it doesn’t end until the District Attorney’s office follows through by relentlessly seeking justice. I have been asked numerous times by law enforcement officers and citizens of Henderson County to run for District Attorney. I strongly believe that we need a change in leadership to support the hard work of our law enforcement officers.  Arresting criminals is only the first step in reducing crime in Henderson County. Our county needs a strong District Attorney to obtain convictions and make sure that all victims, whether it be victims of violent crime or property crime, receive the justice they deserve.

One of my proudest achievements as a prosecutor in Henderson County was securing a conviction and a 99-year sentence against a thief. That defendant had stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars of property from our citizens in a series of ranch burglaries here in Henderson County.

I have prosecuted thousands of cases during my almost fourteen years as an Assistant District Attorney.  I am an experienced trial attorney that is ready to hold people accountable for their actions. I spent years as a Crimes Against Children Prosecutor, making sure that child predators were punished severely. I am passionate about victim’s rights and working with law enforcement officers. I pledge to be the strong leader that Henderson County needs, from the scene of the crime until conviction.”

Jenny is a 2005 graduate of Baylor University School of Law. Prior to graduation from law school, Jenny attended Houston Baptist University.  Jenny is active in the community, having served as a volunteer at the then-East Texas Medical Center, serving on the board of directors for the Poynor Community Water Supply, and served as the 2018-2019 President of the Henderson County Bar Association.  Jenny and her husband, longtime Republicans, along with their two children, have lived in Henderson County for many years. Jenny was hired by former Henderson County District Attorney R. Scott McKee as an Assistant District Attorney in 2012 and worked in the District Attorney’s office until January 2019 when she began working in private practice.

Jenny said, “I ask you to join with me in making sure that our citizens and law enforcement officers of Henderson County have a District Attorney they can count on.”
