The pastor husband of a slain South Texas elementary school teacher and a church member have been charged over her shooting death.
Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio says capital murder charges have been filed against 40-year-old Julio Cesar Perez and 20-year-old Gabriel Apolinar Escalante.
Perez leads a church in El Ranchito, the Ministerios Manantial de Vida.
Perez and Escalanate were held without bond Monday. Cameron County Detention Center records did not list attorneys for the men, who were arraigned Sunday. The sheriff says third suspect is sought.
The body of 39-year-old Sonia Perez, who was a third-grade teacher in Rio Hondo, was found in her vehicle Thursday night near San Benito.
A motive for the killing is sought. Lucio declined to say who's accused of firing the fatal shots.
