Small towns thrive on community relationships, and the Murchison Volunteer Fire Department is preparing to give the city plenty to enjoy on Saturday, Dec. 13.
Murchison’s annual community Christmas is scheduled to be a big community event with the 2014 theme being “Cowboy Christmas.”
“As a department, we desire to be more community-oriented,” MVFD Chief Brandon Irby said. “We want to be a part of the community, and these events are a part of that. We encourage area residents to come out and enjoy time together as a community.”
A day full of events kicks off at 7 a.m. as the fire department hosts a breakfast with Santa Claus.
The breakfast will be held from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Murchison Fire Department on Second Street/FM-773. Santa will be available from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
The Christmas parade will begin at 7 p.m. while lineup starts at 6 p.m.
Once the parade concludes at the city baseball field, the Christmas tree lighting will take place there at the field.
The best designed floats will be recognized while all entries are eligible for the Best Overall designation.
