The bargains begin bright and early on Saturday as the Cain Center holds its winter fundraisers.
The doors will open at 8 a.m. for you to stop by and pick out a warm coat or browse though a myriad of items at the garage sale. The sales runs until 1 p.m., or maybe a little longer if folks are still shopping.
“There are plenty of really good coats again,” Cain Center Executive Director Tere Lawyer said. “They’re in all sizes. A lot of them still have the tags on them.”
The Cain Center is a non-profit organization. Money raised in the fundraisers helps keep the doors open, and all of the events taking place each year.
The Cain Center is a favorite spot for organizations to hold city and county-wide events, and individuals to use the fitness and sports facilities.
“Bill Hunt of Texas Ragtime donates all of the coats for us,” Lawyer said. “It helps a lot.”
The coats are first-come, first-serve, so you’ll want to get there early to get your pick. The coat sale will feature new and gently-used coats in youth and adult sizes. The coats will be on display in the A, B and C rooms, while the garage sale will take place in the gym. Most of the coats cost $5, but a few of the finer ones will cost $10. None are priced above $10. Cash is preferred, but checks will be accepted. No credit or debit cards will be accepted.
Space is still available for vendors who want a spot in the garage sale. It costs $30, if you want to set up a booth to sell your items. The garage sale is not open to retail businesses, but individuals are welcome.
“Instead of being out in the cold, just bring your stuff up here,” Lawyer said.
