Lauren Ricks

Lauren Ricks has joined the Athens Daily Review as a staff writer.

Ricks, 25, began work for the Review Monday. She will be a general assignments reporter.

“I am very excited to have been given the opportunity to join this excellent team,” Ricks said. “The newspaper is of superior quality and the people are extremely friendly.”

She graduated in the top 10 among her classmates at Venus High School in 2000. In August of that year she began attending Dallas Baptist University. She earned her degree in communications and was a member of several academic societies.

Ricks interned with the Waxahachie Daily Light in 2003, where she learned many aspects of the business. She also worked as a stringer for the Midlothian Mirror.

Her family members are natives of Athens and the surrounding areas.

“We’re very excited to add Lauren to our staff,” Editor Jayson Larson said. “She knows a little bit about everything we do on a daily basis, and that will help a lot.”
