The Henderson County Peace Officer’s Association held its regular meeting last week, and presented a scholarship to a Mabank High School student at the event.

The honor went to Victoria Hodges, a MHS senior who is planning to attend Trinity Valley Community College, and major in criminal justice.

The scholarship fund is part of the HCPOA’s annual golf tournament. Proceeds from the tournament are secured and distributed to local residents who are attending or planning to attend college and are seeking a degree in criminal justice.

HCPOA can award up to three scholarships of $1,200 each per calendar year. Interested parties complete an application process with HCPOA scholarship committee members.

On April 17, HCPOA presented the scholarship to Hodges. She  and her grandfather, Michael Howell, were present at the meeting when the award was given.

Anyone who is interested in applying for the HCPOA scholarship is encouraged to contact HCPOA President Kendell Wellman or HCPOA scholarship committee member Brad Gray at 903-675-5128.
