A Tyler man was killed on Wednesday following a two-car crash on Texas 155 near Coffee City, according to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The “preliminary crash investigation revealed that the driver of a 2009 Mercedes Benz E-350, Charles Edward Price, 78, of Tyler, was traveling northbound … and entered into the southbound lanes of traffic. At the same time, the driver of a 2017 Cadillac XTS, Sheryl Anne Keel, 54, of Palestine, was traveling southbound in the right outside lane. The Mercedes struck the Cadillac front left with its front right, causing the vehicle to spin.”

Price was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Milton Adams. Keel was taken to Christus Mother Francis in Tyler, where she was listed in stable condition.

The wreck was reported just before 2 p.m. about 1.5 miles north of Coffee City.
