A man was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after shooting to death William Lebleu on Thursday night, according to a press release from the Henderson County Sheriff's Office.

Lebleu, 33, “was from the Athens area. He was shot twice with a shotgun around 7 p.m. at a residence in the 200 block of Brentwood Circle. He was pronounced dead after being airlifted to a Tyler hospital.”

Stewart Prewitt, 53, also from Athens and a convicted felon, was arrested at the residence.

“He was charged with having the weapon used to kill Lebleu,” the press release shows. “We are handing the case over to the District Attorney for a grand jury to review.”

The case remained under investigation.

“During the day, the two men argued repeatedly, and Lebleu went to the residence south of Athens with what appeared to be a handgun,” according to the press release. “When he brandished the weapon, which later proved to be an Airsoft gun, Prewitt shot him.”

The Texas Rangers, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Henderson County District Attorney’s Office are assisting in the investigation.
