We all have a dream, a passion that burns inside of us as we think about it constantly. Sixteen-year-old Trey Jackson of Malakoff has that passion that burns inside of him. Jackson has a passion for singing and he is ready to take that passion to the next level.
For Jackson, that next level is waiting for him in Florida. He has been invited to sing in front of 30 music producers for a shot at a contract.
“These are the top-30 music producers in the industry,” said Jackson, “one of them is Jay-Z.”
Jackson is no stranger to performing in front of big audiences. While in middle school he appeared on the talent shows X-Factor – where he made it to the fourth round – and America’s Got Talent, where he made it to the second round.
Just last year, as a freshman at Malakoff High School, Jackson appeared on American Idol where he made it to the fifth round.
Only three people have a shot at this contract and Jackson says he is the youngest one.
“I sang for one of the producers and got a call back within an hour,” Jackson said. “The producer says that of the three people performing that I have the most unique voice.”
As a young star in the making he needs help from the community to get him to Florida.
He needs to raise $1,600 before Aug. 1, of which he has only raised $200 so far.
All funds raised will cover his travel expenses.
Jackson has set up a GoFundMe account online to help raise the funds.
