The junk that’s been lingering in that old closet or in your yard? Time to let it go.

Saturday offers the perfect chance.

The annual Keep Athens Beautiful Fall Cleanup and Texas Recycles Day is set for 8 a.m. to noon at the City of Athens collection site on Aaron Street.

KAB Executive Director Carol Morton said the cleanup is carried out in partnership with the City of Athens and Allied Waste.

Proof of Athens residency is required.

All trash must be delivered in bags, and brush and yard waste will also be accepted.

Free electronic recycling will also be offered. Acceptable electronic items include computers, monitors, printers, televisions, VCRs, stereos, cell phones, DVD/CD players and other handheld electronic consumer devices.

Construction debris, appliances and hazardous materials such as paint, tires and oil products will not be accepted.

KAB is also recruiting clean teams to clean up problem areas. Morton said volunteers with the clean teams will receive a T-shirt and a sack.
