After a week’s search, Henderson County’s district judges appointed a new county auditor on Friday.
Ann Marie Lee will officially pick up the reins as county auditor on July 1, according to a memorandum brought to the Athens Review from the judges’ offices just before noon Friday.
“Ms. Lee previously worked in the auditor’s office and is an experienced CPA,” the memorandum stated. “The judges believe that she has the education, the background and the leadership and people skills necessary for this office.”
Interviews for the job began June 12. Officials with the 392nd District Court reported receiving between 25 and 30 applications for the position.
County Auditor Wes Johnson turned in his resignation April 25, after serving the county about two years. His resignation takes effect June 23.
“I wish him well and we appreciate the job he did for this county,” 392nd District Court Judge Carter Tarrance said upon receiving Johnson’s resignation in April.
