A 2-year-old boy was abducted from his mother’s Crescent Heights residence Monday morning, allegedly by the woman’s ex-boyfriend.

According to information from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Pat McWilliams, the child, Joseph Kyle Butler was taken from his mother’s residence at about 10.45 a.m. Joseph is a white male, 28 inches tall, weighing 22 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was wearing blue clothing at the time of the abduction.

McWilliams said an Amber alert had not been issued as of Monday afternoon because the boy is not thought to be in imminent danger.

A kidnapping warrant has been issued for the suspect, Joseph Kyle Butler. Despite having the same name, reports indicate he is not the child’s biological father. He is described as 21 years of age, 6 feet 3 inches tall and 180 pounds.

Butler was driving a red 1983 Ford F150 pickup with a black tool box. When last seen, he was wearing a ball cap, blue sweat shirt, denim jeans and white shoes.

The elder Butler is also wanted on a motion to revoke community supervision charge stemming from a former arrest for possession of a controlled substance.
