The Athens Police Department arrested two occupants of a truck who attempted to flee officers on Tuesday.
Kevin Jay Todd Jr., 26, was booked into the Henderson County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, and evading arrest with a prior conviction. He was released after posting $10,500 bond.
Bobbie Louise Bruner, 28, was charged with evading arrest in a motor vehicle. Bruner was freed after putting up $3,000 bond.
Shortly after 1 a.m., APD reports said, Officer Jeremy Hugghins was dispatched to a suspicious person call on Pinkerton Street, north of the police station.
When police arrived, the driver of the truck tried to elude the officer. When the vehicle reached a dead end, police said, one person was seen running from the vehicle wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.
Officers John Graham, John Riley and Cpl. Roger Keith soon joined Hugghins at the location. Hugghins arrested Bruner, while Keith captured Todd, who had a small amount of controlled substance in his possession.
