Five junior high students from LaPoynor ISD are competing in the Texas Junior High Rodeo Association State Finals, in Gonzales.

These students competed against some super tough competition at Region IV, and earned themselves a spot in the top 10 in their respective events.

Eighth graders, Laney Jo Almon, Landrie Joiner and Conner Reynolds. Seventh grader Carleigh Reynolds and sixth Grader Karter Almon.

The Brother sister duo, Laney Jo (Ribbon Roping Champion) and Karter (Ribbon Roping Runner Champion), won’t have the opportunity to compete again, as a team, for another two years. Laney roped fast and Karter ran hard to be the number one team at Region IV. Also, Laney was the girls Champion Goat Tyer for Region IV! She’ll also be competing in girls Breakaway and Barrels.

Landrie Joiner qualified for state in Poles, and Light Rifle Shooting at State for Region IV. Conner Reynolds qualified for state in Chute Dogging and Light Rifle for Region IV.

Carleigh Reynolds qualified for girls Goat Tying for Region IV.

Karter Almon, along with being Ribbon Roping Runner Champion, qualified for state in boys Breakaway, Boys Goat Tying, and Chute Dogging for Region IV.
