Johnson Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church will host its Annual Summer Revival 7 p.m. nightly with doors opening at 6:15 p.m. July 29-31 at 1409 W Royall Blvd. Malakoff.

Rev. Keith Ray, Pastor stated, “This will be a revival of renewing your relationship with God; a revival of winning souls, a revival of bringing the community and surrounding areas together. We will give all Praise and Glory to Jesus Christ for giving us another day to Worship Him. So come and be us at our revival and receive a BLESSING.”

On Monday night, July 29, the speaker will be Rev. Von Thomas, Pastor of New Founder Missionary Baptist Church in Ennis.

On Tuesday and Wednesday night, July 30-31, the speaker will be Rev. Carlton Blanton, Jr., Associate Pastor of The Church On The Way in DeSoto.

Rev. Blanton is a native of Dallas, and received Christ at an early age.  He attended Dallas and DeSoto Independent School Districts; also Remington College and El Centro Community College.  He is a Pharmacist and a degree in Philosophy and Religion.  He served in the U. S. Army and was honorably discharged in 2013.

At the age of 23, he accepted his call to preach the gospel of Christ under the pastorate of Dr. A. E. Sharp, I, of the Tabernacle of Praise Missionary Baptist Church. Under the direction of Dr. Sharp, Pastor Blanton continued training and shaping in the work of servant leadership.

In 2014, Rev. Blanton accepted the assignment to serve as Assistant Pastor under the leadership of Pastor Marsha Smith at The Church On The Way.  This occurred during a transitional period following the sudden death of Pastor Marsha Smith’s husband Rev. Dwight Smith.

Rev. Blanton continues to minister in this position, providing a listening ear, and a voice of connection for the next generation.
