Early Tuesday morning Keaton Lightfoot woke up to a tree falling on top of him. It was still dark, around 5 a.m. on Clinton and Lovers in Athens. The wind and rain-saturated ground caused the tree to fall.
“My worry is getting out of that room as fast as I could before it collapsed in anymore,” he said.
He escaped unharmed, something his mother Sharon credits God for. Sharon Lightfoot heard her sons cries for help, when she went in there she saw the tree on top of him. He was able to get out without assistance.
“I've been through worse; I almost was a goner,” Keaton said.
The family is currently working with contractors in order to fix the extensive damage to their home.
