HOUSTON — Houston health officials say a 10-year-old boy is the first confirmed case of swine flu in a city resident.

Houston Health and Human Services Spokeswoman Kathy Barton said the boy first became ill Sunday and is recovering after being treated with Tamiflu. The boy was not hospitalized and no one else in his family has gotten sick.

Barton said the family has not traveled to Mexico but had recently visited San Antonio, where the first case of swine flu in Texas was reported.

A 23-month-old toddler from Mexico City who died in a Houston hospital became the first swine-flu death in the U.S. on Monday.
