Allen Frizzell travels many miles each year to share his message of love and forgiveness.

The country gospel artist comes to Living for the Brand Cowboy Church on Sunday for a 10 a.m. appearance.

"It's been real busy, thankfully," Frizzell said. We're pretty much traveling from the east coast to the west coast."

In the summer, he's usually touring for two or thee months. The rest of the year he sings most weekends.

Last year, he added a trip to Argentina to his schedule.

Frizzell said recent stops serve as a good reminder of why he spends so much time on the road.

"I sing country gospel, but it is a ministry," Frizzell said. "Over the last couple of weeks, we've had six people come to know the Lord. That's why we do what we do."

Frizzell comes from a well known country music clan that included Hall of Fame member Lefty Frizzell and hit maker David Frizzell. Allen had success not only as a singer, but a writer in the country field.

"I did that pretty much all of my life until about 14 years ago, when I started getting into the ministry." Frizzell said. "We've been 12 years on the road."He's spend about the last 12 years on the road in his ministry. His daughter and son traveled for a while.

"Now it's just my wife and I," Frizzell said. "My son went into country music about a year ago and he's really doing well."

About 70 percent of the churches where Allen sings are cowboy churches. Depending on the venue, the crowd may be a few dozen or as many as 14,000.

It's his first time at Living for the Brand.

He said it's a thrill when he learns his songs have had a deeper impact than just a few minutes entertainment, such as when a man in Shreveport told him one of Allen's songs had changed his life.

"But it's not me, it's God," Frizzell said.

He released his first Christian CD in 2007. Some of the accolades that have come include a song he wrote about his dad and heavenly father titled A Man Of His Word that made it into the top No. 5 in Southern Gospel Music. The song made it all the way to No. 1 in the nation on the Christian Country Music charts.
