The Henderson County Library hosted the inaugural Comic-con Saturday, July 13 at The Texan with an estimated 730 people in attendance.

“We would like to thank everybody who attended and enjoyed themselves,” said Michelle Zenor, head librarian. “We have had a lot of positive feedback from people hoping it becomes a regular event.”

People dressed up for the cosplay contest and Andromeda the mermaid sat on a giant seashell delighting the younger attendees.

There were vendors selling jewelry, figurines, comics and fan favorites.

Artists and authors also attended. Weston King, an author, spoke at the event and author Perry Edwards held a workshop.

T-shirts were printed by Athens Screen Printing.

Renotta Mayo, assistant librarian said “I enjoyed seeing everyone come out and enjoy themselves at an event not common to Athens.”
