ATHENS — Services for Ben R. Holland, 75, Athens, formerly of Bowie are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Athens with Dr. Kyle Henderson and Dr. Ronnie Lawson officiating.

Burial will follow in Athens Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Mr. Holland died Jan. 28, 2008, in Tyler.

He was born July 29, 1932, in Athens to the late Richard Frazier and Rena Trueheart Lewis Holland. He formerly lived in Ft. Worth for eight years where he owned and operated En-Con Insulation, Inc. Mr. Holland moved to Athens in 2005 after residing in Bowie 20 years. While in Bowie he was a member of First Baptist Church, served on the Bowie Memorial Hospital Board, served as President of Jim Bowie Days for two years, served as President of the Senior Citizens Board and was active in various other civic organizations. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Athens and was active in the Senior Adult One Sunday School Class.

Family preceding him in death were a brother, Richard Franklin Holland; and sisters, Jane Holland Taylor, Emma Jo Holland Crout and Mary Ruth Holland Pence.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Mildred Holland, Athens; daughters Robin Holland, Cleburne and Rennie Anne Brigman, Malakoff; brothers Jack Holland and Jerry Holland both of Athens, numerous nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers include Bill Crout, Don Taylor, Steve Pence, Joe Holland, Terry Taylor, Phillip Pence, Alan Holland and Rick Holland.

The Senior Adult One Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
