Local propositions trailing in early vote

County voters mixed on Amendments

ATHENS — Early votes in Henderson County showed propositions on the ballot in Gun Barrel City and Murchison failing, as well as the question of creating an Emergency Services District No. 6 on the east side of the county.

Murchison voters had cast 48 ballots against allowing the off-premises sale of all alcoholic beverages. Thirty voters were in favor of the option.

Gun Barrel City early ballots were overwhelmingly against a repeal of a city ordinance allowing late-night liquor sales in certain establishments. The vote was 213 against and 81 in favor.

The election to create an Emergency Services District in an area south of Chandler trailed by a narrow margin. Of early voters, 22, disapproved of the district, while 19 favored it.

County voters were mixed on the slate of 10 Constitutional Amenments.
