ATHENS — Water level is 2.50 feet low and stained. Water temp in the low 70s.
Bobby Spearman at Lake Athens Marina says black bass are good to seven pounds. Best bite coming on topwaters and cranks worked along the edges of lily pads out to 10 feet.

The Hornets, making their longest run into the playoffs since 2007, face defending 3A state champ Texarkana Pleasant Grove in a series beginning Friday at 7 p.m. at Northeast Texas Community College in Mount Pleasant. Game 2 is at 1 p.m. at the same site, with Game 3 -- if necessary -- to follow 30 minutes after Game 2.
