ATHENS — Water level is 3.69 feet low and slightly stained. Water temp in the mid-50s.
Bobby Spearman said crappie fishing is excellent in 15-24 feet of water along drop offs and brush piles. Plenty of limits reported.
Bass fishing traffic has been has been light. Best reports are coming on Carolina rigs and deep diving cranks fished near the dam in 15-25 feet of water.
CEDAR CREEK — Water level is 3.84 feet low and slightly stained. Water temp in the 50s.
Fishing guide Jason Barber says catfishing has been excellent in shallow and deep water alike.
Drifting and anchoring over humps in 18-30 feet of water is producing some quality blues upwards of 20 pounds. Up north, cut shad and shrimp are working on shallow points, stumps and around cormorant roosts.
Black bass to six pounds are taking spinnerbaits, crankbaits and jigs fished around docks with two-plus feet of water. Crappie are good on shiners and jigs around brushpiles and bridges in 12-20 feet and around docks in six feet.
White bass and hybrids are setting up around schools of bait in 12-30 feet of water. Slabs and swim baits are the ticket.
PALESTINE — Water level is 1.89 feet low and fairly clear. Water temp in the mid-50s.
Fishing guide Ricky Vandergriff said bass are good in the 2-3 pound range on jigs and spinnerbaits tossed around brush and other trash in 2-5 feet of water. White square bills are productive around rocky banks down south.
Crappie fisherman are picking up a few limits on jigs and small minnows fished around bridge pilings at the Highway 155 bridge crossing. The fish are holding on bottom around brush in 24 feet of water.
Catfish are excellent using night crawlers around baited holes in 15 feet of water. Some big blues and flatheads taking live perch on jug lines and trotlines.
White bass are slow. A few reports of schooling activity on points near the dam.
RICHLAND CHAMBERS — RC is is 4.79 feet low and fairly clear. Water temp in the mid-50s.
Larry Winters at Midway Landing says bass fishing has been good on spinnerbaits slow rolled in 3-5 feet of water midway back in the creeks. Several fish in the 3-5 pound range reported.
Catfish are good on windy shorelines using punch bait.
Timber flats in 8-12 feet also producing mixed bags of blues and channel cat. White bass are fair in 20-25 feet of water points using slabs. Crappie are slow.
FORK — Water level is 4.58 feet low and fairly clear. Water temp in the mid-50s. Fishing guide Brooks Rogers says bass fishing has been good. A 15.02 pound largemouth reported on Dec. 12 in 30 feet of water on a crappie jig.
