Athens senior Demi Cumby has been selected as one of the top basketball players in the state of Texas and is invited to play in a prestigious event.
Cumby was invited to participate in the 14th annual Texas Roundup All-Star game to be held on March 16 in Maypearl.
The Texas Roundup selects the top 24 boys and girls' from Class A through 3A in the state. Players are chosen from nominations and recruiters participate as advisors in the selection process.
The girls' game is set for 3 p.m. followed by the boys game at 5 p.m.
Admission to the game is $5.
Maypearl is located on FM 66, approximately 10 miles west of Waxahachie and 15 miles north of Hillsboro.
KCKL bass tourney March 23-24
The 30th annual KCKL Big Bass Tournament is coming up in two weeks.
The event is being held at Cedar Creek Lake March 23-24.
The tournament offers 120 cash prizes for Big Bass weighed every hour and to winners in the final standings of the event.
Entry fee for the tournament is $75 per day and youth entry fees (under the age of 16) are discounted to $10 per day.

Brownsboro beats Palestine 12-10
BROWNSBORO — The Brownsboro Bears and Palestine combined for 22 runs on Monday night.
The teams combined for 26 hits, including five extra base hits.
The game was back-and-forth heading into the fourth, with five lead changes.
BHS took the lead in the fourth inning and held on for the victory.
Landon Mason belted a two-run home run by off Brian Gummelt, scoring Aaron Ramirez.
Ryan Covington got the win for the Brownsboro Bears Varsity despite allowing seven runs over six innings. Covington struck out two, walked four and gave up nine hits.
The Brownsboro Bears Varsity's Ramirez, Mason, Raul Gutierrez and Tyler Thomison combined for eight hits and six RBIs.
BHS returns to the diamond this today for the start of the Kemp Tournament.
