FORNEY — A missed 15-footer at the buzzer by Wills Point Tigers’ Jah Golden propelled the Mabank Panthers’ into the Class 3A, Region 2 Quarterfinals with a, 49-48, win Friday night at Forney High School.
Five players scored for the Panthers (25-9), led by senior post David Marler, who scored all 14 points in the second quarter en route to a game-high 20 points.
Senior Landon Marshall was the other double figure scorer with 14 points.
First-year coach Tracy Carter’s Panthers’ face Texarkana Pleasant Grove in the quarterfinals Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Hallsville High School.
