The Athens Review
EUSTACE —
A trio of Eustace volleyball players have been honored statewide.
Senior Kacie Richards was selected to the Texas Sports Writers Association volleyball team, and she was a first-team pick by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.
Richards was a first-team All-Henderson County Area Volleyball Team selection. She had 314 kills and 98 aces for the Eustace Lady Bulldogs, who went 30-9 and advanced to the regional quarterfinals for the fourth time in five seasons.
Casey Bramblitt and Chelsea Oldham, two more Eustace seniors, were named academic all-state, as well.
Bramblitt, another first-team All-Henderson County pick, hit 92 percent of her serves with 101 aces to go along with 312 kills.
Oldham — the reigning All-Henderson County Softball MVP — played setter for the Lady Bulldogs. Bramblitt and Richards were outside hitters.
Behind strong play from the trio of Lady Bulldogs, Eustace posted a 62-18 record. Eustace has exited the playoffs in the first round only once in 11 seasons.
