The LaPoynor Flyers wrapped up their Senior night festivities with a District 17-A title on Tuesday night.
LaPoynor jumped out to a 40-34 lead at the half and outscored Big Sandy 45-35 in the second half of play in their 85-69 win over Big Sandy.
Deon Johnson led the way for the Flyers with 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while teammate Octavious Crear added 21 points and five assists.
Ashton Abendroth added 18 points and six rebounds for the Flyers, while James Jackson had a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Brownsboro 58, Mineola 38
BROWNSBORO — The Brownsboro Bears wrapped up the District 15-3A title with a 58-38 win over the Mineola Yellow Jackets Tuesday night.
The Bears finished the regular season with a 23-8 record and 8-2 in district play.
Blake Ralson scored a game-high 16 points, while teammate Tamrick Pace added 10 points.
The Bears’ will open the playoffs in the area round Feb. 14-16.
Their opponent is to be determined.

Athens 17, Chapel Hill 6
The Athens Lady Hornets opened up the softball season with a dominating win over the Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs Monday night.
Coach Jamie Poteete’s Lady Hornets return to the field this Thursday-Saturday in the Brownsboro Tournament.

Mabank 7, Chapel Hill 0
MABANK — The Mabank Lady Panthers opened district play with a strong showing against the Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs Tuesday night.
Savannah Henderson scored four goals, while Kayla Houston had two goals and Kaylee Creagh added one goal.
MHS travels to Rose Stadium Friday night to face John Tyler.
In JV action, Mabank won 5-0.
