BREAKING NEWS: Poteete leaving TVCC to be head coach at NEO

ATHENS — Sherard Poteete, who has served as Trinity Valley Community College's offensive coordinator, is leaving to take the head football coaching job at Northeast Oklahoma A&M, TVCC head coach Brad Smiley has confirmed.

Poteete has been with TVCC since January 2010. He played quarterback at NEO for Dale Patterson, who is stepping down as football coach after returning the program to national prominence. NEO was 9-3 this season and played in the Citizens Bank Bowl.

Prior to his time at TVCC, Poteete coached for six seasons at Louisiana College, where he worked as offensive coordinator, passing game coordinator, special teams coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Poteete's wife, Jamie, is a teacher in the Athens Independent School District who also was expected to take over the high school softball program this season.
