ATHENS —
Athens junior Caridad Aguilera was named to the first team of the 15-3A all-district team released this week.
Brownsboro had a pair of superlative winners — senior Morgan Barnes was named co-Most Valuable Setter (with Mineola’s Maddie Wood), and freshman Madi Montgomery was named Newcomer of the Year.
Van’s Haley McCarty was named Most Valuable Player, while Canton’s Brittany Brewer was named Most Valuable Hitter.
Other superlative winners were BriAnn Thompson of Van, who was named Most Valuable Blocker; Sierra Zielke of Canton, who was named Most Valuable Defensive Player; and Van’s Kristen Reaves, who was named Coach of the Year.
Brownsboro also had two first-teamers — seniors Jacobi Parker and Kylie Bridges; two second-team picks — junior LaDae Lugman and senior Kaylan Harris; and two honorable mention selections — senior Anna Wood and junior Meagan Gailey.
Mabank had two first-team picks — seniors Kourtney Holyfield and Morgen Gaona; a second-team selection — sophomore Bailey Swain; and four honorable mentions — seniors Shelby Swain and Jordan Koskelin; junior Mikayla Adams; and sophomore Madison Holyfield.
Athens had no second-team picks, but seven honorable mention selections — seniors Hannah Feinsod, McKenzie Parrish; Brielle Patton and Kyndal Thompson; sophomore Kaley Durden; and junior Elizabeth Hilliard.
