AREA VOLLEYBALL: Cross Roads picks up two big wins Tuesday night

CROSS ROADS — First year coach Giff Durham’s LadyCats improved to 11-7 on the year with two wins over Oakwood and Mildred Tuesday night.

Cross Roads beat Oakwood by scores of 25-12, 18-25, 25-18 and 25-17.

The LadyCats defeated Mildred by scores of 25-18, 25-16, 23-25, 23-25 and 15-11.

Cross Roads travels to Neches next Tuesday.

Rains defeats Brownsboro in three games Tuesday night

BROWNSBORO — The Brownsboro Bearettes lost in three straight games to Rains Tuesday night.

Coach Becky Daughtery’s team lost by scores of 25-8, 25-22, 25-11.

Ladae Luqman led the team with five kills.

In junior varsity action, Rains won by scores of 25-20 and 25-18, while the freshman team beat Rains 25-21 and 25-21.

Brownsboro will host the Brownsboro Bearette Booster tournament today-Saturday.

16 teams will be playing in the three day tournament.

Brownsboro opened the tournament with three pool play games against Gary at 8 a.m., Palestine at 10 a.m. and Rains JV at noon.

Eustace takes care of Scurry Rosser in district opener

EUSTACE — The Eustace Lady Dogs defeated Scurry Rosser in three games Tuesday night in the district opener for both schools.

Eustace won by scores of 25-19, 25-14 and 25-9.

Senior Caitlyn Culp led the way for the Lady Dogs with three kills, two blocks, while junior Grace Holcombe had two kills and one block.

Senior outside hitter Peyton Dibari had two kills and one block. Taylor Peebles also had two kills in the game.

The Lady Dogs continue district play Friday night at Kemp.

The freshman and junior varsity will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity to follow.
