SWJCFC SEMIFINALS: TVCC takes care of Blinn, 38-7

Face Navarro for the regional championship next Saturday

Athens — The No. 10-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals punched their ticket to the SWJCFC Regional Championship game with a 38-7 win over the Blinn College Buccaneers Saturday afternoon at Bruce Field.

With the win, coach Brad Smiley’s Cardinals are 8-2 on the year as they welcome the Navarro Bulldogs (8-2) to town next Saturday for a 3 p.m. kickoff.

Navarro defeated Tyler, 33-24, Saturday in the other regional semifinal.

TVCC starting quarterback Ryan Polite went 24-of-39 for 304 yards as Jarvis Baxter had 12 catches for 202 yards and two touchdowns.

The TVCC defense held Blinn to 270 total yards and a 10-yard touchdown run by Klartel Claridy.
