The Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals lost a four-game match against the No. 1-ranked team in the nation Thursday night at Cardinal Gym.
The Blinn College Buccaneers won in four games by scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-22.
This was a non-conference match between the two schools.
TVCC was scheduled to play West Plains Community College at 11 a.m. and Temple at 3 p.m. in the TJC Invitational tournament on Saturday.
They will then travel to Paris Junior College on Tuesday before wrapping up the home schedule Oct. 11 against Ranger and Oct. 16 against Navarro College.
The two home games are scheduled to begin at 1 and 7 p.m. respectively.
The Lady Cardinals fought hard throughout the contest and in game 2 put together an impressive run to close the game out.
After Blinn tied the game at 22-22 and forced a TVCC timeout, the Lady Cards had a block from Brittney Griffith — who finished with six kills and four blocks — to give them the lead.
Sara Cruz them smashed a kill for a 23-21 lead. Blinn cut into the lead with a kill by Rachel Sharp.
After a kill by Griffith and another kill by Sharp, Cruz put the game away at 25-23 with a kill off an assist from Amelie Guinci.
Blinn was able to control the tempo in game 3 and jumped out to a 5-1 lead early.
The closest the Lady Cards were able to cut into the lead was a 17-10 deficit off a block from Ashlynn Caldwell and Kaitlyn McShan.
In the final game, the Lady Cards were trailing by a 12-4 score early in the game.
After a timeout from coach Tosha Spain, the Lady Cards battled to a 21-21 tie following a misplayed ball by Blinn.
TVCC attempted to make a game of it as McShan blasted a kill to make it 24-22 Blinn.
Bruna Evangelista put the match away for Blinn with a kill.
Cruz led the way with 14 kills and three blocks, while McShan had 11 kills and three blocks.
