ALBA —
The Cross Roads Bobcats just didn’t have enough firepower to handle the Alba-Golden Panthers Friday night.
The Panthers held the Bobcats in check with a 24-7 victory.
With the win, the Bobcats fell to 0-2 on the season under first-year Head Coach Stephen Almuete. Cross Roads was coming off a 48-22 loss to Scurry-Rosser in last week’s season opener.
Alba-Golden, meanwhile, is suddenly riding high after opening the season with two straight wins. Heading into the 2010 season, the Panthers were the owners of a 20-game losing streak.
Cross Roads will go for its first win of the season and the first for Almuete next Saturday in Lovelady. The Bobcats will face Hull-Daisetta in a 2 p.m. start.
It will mark the first of two straight road games for the Bobcats, who then hit the road September 17 to face All-Saints in Tyler.
