ATHENS —
It was about time. No, literally.
During halftime of Wednesday night’s men’s basketball game against Navarro, members of the Trinity Valley Community College football team received watches commemorating their appearance last Sunday in the Third-Annual Citizens Bank Bowl in Pittsburg, Kan. TVCC lost the game to Butler (Kan.), 21-17.
Players were unaware they were going to receive watches — which were purchased using donations from college employees and members of the community.
TVCC head coach Brad Smiley thanked the crowd and said he will miss his players who are moving on from this year’s team.
“Wherever we were, you guys showed up,” Smiley said to the crowd. “This is a special group of kids. I hate to see them go.”
