Athens —
One hundred athletes from across East Texas will embark on Earl Campbell Field at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium for the third annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ Heart of a Champion Bowl this summer.
The game will be played June 15 as five Henderson County athletes were selected to the team.
Athens’ George Hutson, along with Eustace players Kyle Purselley and Jalen Season, Mabank’s Trevor Chasteen and Brownsboro’s Shelby Rogers will take part in the game.
Eustace head coach and athletic director Brian Herman will be an assistant coach on the Red Team.
The teams were announced during a ceremony on Sunday in the Galilee Room at Green Acres Baptist Church.
The Heart of a Champion Bowl week will begin Wednesday, June 15 at 1 p.m. where the athletes will be housed, fed and by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
On the Red team will be Hutson, Purselley and Seahorn, while on the Blue team Chasteen and Rogers will be coached by Harmony’s Tim Russell.
Van coach Jared Moffatt will coach the red team and his staff includes Mt. Vernon coach Mike Alexander, Scott Doring from Van, Herman, Ricklan Holmes from John Tyler, Eric Robinson from Beckville and Gerry Stanford from White Oak.
Coby Gipson from T.K. Gorman is the red team consultant.

The Brownsboro Bearette Softball Camp is set for June 4-7 at the Brownsboro High School Field on the campus of Brownsboro High School.
Cost is $35 per camper.
