HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Malakoff senior RB  Dowell selected for Florida bowl game

MALAKOFF — Malakoff senior running back Damontes Dowell has been invited to play in the eighth annual Offense-Defense Bowl week  festivities taking place at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla.

The week long event is set for Dec. 30-Jan. 4 with 88 of the top high school seniors in the country showcasing their skills.

The All-American showcase has featured NFL stars Cam Newton and Dez Bryant along with Carlos Dunlap.

During a football camp this summer, Dowell was named an Elite all-american.

Dowell was named a first-team All-Henderson County running back last year.

He rushed for 1,030 yards and 15 touchdowns after missing three games that season.

The game will also be televised.

Offense-Defense Sports has been running full-contact football instructional camps for the past 45 years and currently operates in approximately 40 camp locations nationwide every spring and summer.
